Are we packed and ready for the shore?

Ah, the excitement!  I've been preparing ever since we got home from California...
I've created a Google Map of the Outer Banks with everything we need marked on it, including an Ace Hardware Store.  But what if the WiFi doesn't work in the house??

We've got a list of things to buy and a list of things to bring, which will be much more than we will need in a month.  We even have a google group to plan this thing.  Too bad we're only going for a week!

I took the Honda CRV to the car wash and then redid the inside since they did a lousy job this time.  Using Juan's car cleaning paraphernalia from years ago, I polished the interior, power-washed the front floor mats and vacuumed the back.  It almost looks like new!  I wonder if everything will fit...(which is why we aren't taking the Prius).

Here the back is loaded with just chairs, boogie board and the cooler.  Let's see if we can fit 4 suitcases in there and a box of supplies.

Penny wanted me to add my packing list, so I've put it below.  I probably won't take everything:

Corolla NC

I'm practing saying Karalla.  And NAW-fuk.  Just like with Pittsburghese, there is a guide to talking in the South.  Here's one for Virginia and here's How to Talk like a Tar Heel.  That's so we'll know what people are talking about when we go to the Outer Banks for the first time this August.  Lots of people from Pittsburgh religiously spend a week at the "shore" every summer (although it's usually Rehoboth or Ocean City, Maryland).  We've only gone to the shore twice in the 34 years we've lived here and both times were to Chincoteague when the kids were little, the first time camping and the second time in a musty rental cabin.  We are really going upscale this time, thanks to our kids and our 40th wedding anniversary!

Figuring we'll be miles from nowhere (which isn't true since there's a Harris Teeter supermarket and a Food Lion down the road) Will and I thought it would be good to stop at a Costco on the way down: there's one in Richmond and another in Norfolk.  Unfortunately the nearest H-Mart is in Fairfax, Virginia, but maybe we can make a little 5 mile detour with Juan and Mandy when we skirt DC.  I was looking forward to a BiBimBap party and maybe Papi could cook up a Colombian meal with beans, platano, yuca, arepas, rice and other starches...  If the kids are lucky, Papi will make them changua and huevos pericos for breakfast every day...
